She is a leading proponent of community food security, organic farming, seed saving and women’s involvement in agriculture. She is changing the way the world thinks about food sovereignty and environmental sustainability.

Shiva will present this lecture, which is co-sponsored by the Global Institute of Sustainability, as part of the Institute for Humanities Research Andrew W. Mellon Foundation /Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes funded “Humanities for the Environment” project. Shiva will be participating in the last of three workshops entitled “Forms of Collaborative Knowledge and Collective Action: The Future of Food.” The Humanities for the Environment (HfE) project is concerned with various aspects of environmental humanities and will be animated by questions about the role of the humanities in the age of the Anthropocene.
