Netra Chhetri

Associate Professor

Netra B. Chhetri is an Associate Professor at the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning and Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes at Arizona State University (ASU).

A common thread of Netra’s scholarship is narrowing the gaps between science and society and the scope of his work is by its nature both local and global.

Netra is currently a principal investigator on a USAID-funded project that is aimed at demonstrating the innovative approach to climate adaptation. He is also a part of a team looking at the sustainability of second-generation biofuel crops in the U.S.

Netra’s experience and interest on global food security has evolved into his focus on impacts of climate change to global food systems, leading him to be one of the contributing authors of the AR4 and AR5 to the WG II of the IPCC. His notable research accomplishment includes publication in the high impacts journal (Nature, PNAS, Annals), an edited book and a special issue of Applied Geography.

In addition to being Senior Sustainability Scientist in the Global Institute of Sustainability at ASU, Netra sits on the Graduate Faculty of three programs outside his primary unit. Netra is also the Honors Disciplinary Faculty.
