Thomas (Tom) Bristow

ARC Postdoctoral Fellow

Tom Bristow is an ARC postdoctoral fellow in the Shaping the Modern Programme of the Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions.

Tom’s book projects include: The Anthropocene Lyric: An Affective Geography of People, Planet, Place (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014); A Cultural History of Climate Change (co-edited with Tom Ford; Routledge, 2015); and a children’s book teasing out imaginative formulations of environmental empathy, Our Planet and You: Ecological Algebra (Penguin 2016).

Tom is the President of the Association for the Study of Literature, Environment and Culture, Australia and New Zealand (ASLEC-ANZ), which publishes the Australasian Journal of Ecocriticism and Cultural Ecology, and is home to a group of over 100 academics, activists and artists – affiliated with a worldwide network of similar associations (Canada, Europe, Japan, Korea, US, UK). He is an editor of the journal PAN (Philosophy Activism Nature) and board member of the Australasian Consortium of Humanities Research Centres (ACHRC).
