Futures Literacy Workshop

Led by Dr. Joni Adamson and Dr. Sreya Ann Oommen

In this workshop, we will learn why academics, policy-makers, and community leaders are mastering the anticipatory skills of futures thinking. To accomplish this goal, we will harness the ideas of marine biologist and popular podcaster Ayana Elizabeth Johnson as we learn how to “story” our futures, gather data, observe patterns, and understand trends. Using Johnson’s book, What if we get it Right, and her famous “Venn diagram for Climate Action, ” we will we discuss how her ideas and advice counter fear driven climate discourse and empower us with agency over our own futures and thus give us new skills for co-designing our communities and careers.
