Jude Philp works at the University of Sydney where she is senior curator of the Macleay Collections at the Chau Chak Wing Museum. Trained in social anthropology by Torres Strait Islanders and Sydney and Cambridge University academics, her work focusses on anthropological understandings of the histories of acquisition for museum collections. In particular she is engaged in making obvious the roles of Indigenous knowledges that were ignored or manipulated during collecting expeditions and segregated into ‘culture’ in museum processes. Her exhibition work principally engages with issues of climate change and social justice through amplifying the voices of marginalised peoples.
