UH Environmental Humanities Initiative
Oceania
The Environmental Humanities Initiative at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa will introduce students to historical and contemporary understandings of the environment by drawing on and bridging disciplines in the Colleges of the Arts and Humanities (A&H), Languages, Linguistics and Literatures (LLL), Natural Sciences (NS) and Social Sciences (SoSc).
Taking a broad view of the meaning of “environment” (to include human and non-human beings, natural and built environments, and the relations and interactions among them), this interdisciplinary program will prepare students for the study of environmental cultures and related professional paths (government, policy work, NGOs, environmental and arts organizations, environmental journalism, etc.)
